MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 4th.  Husson University’s Cory Brandon (Pembroke, Mass.) took home Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Alfred State trio of John Lauretti (Seaford, N.Y), Ronnie Clark (Philadelphia, N.Y.) and Bladimir Vargas (Washington Heights, N.Y) were named Defensive, Rookie and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.

Offensive Player of the Week

Cory Brandon – Husson University
(Senior, QB – Pembroke, Mass.)

Brandon completed 14-of-21 pass attempts (71.4 percent) for a single-game school record 404 yards - previous record stood for 16 seasons. He scored five touchdowns in Husson's 63-2 win vs. Gallaudet to become the first quarterback in program history to throw for 400 yards in a single game. The senior quarterback also set new single-game marks for highest average gain per play (17.6), highest passing efficiency rating (311.6), most passing yards gained per attempt (19.2), most passing yards gained per completion (26.9) and most total offense yards gained (387). Brandon completed TD passes of 82, 61, 57, 47 and 21 yards to record his third career five touchdown passing game, the only quarterback in program history to accomplish this feat.

Defensive Player of the Week

John Lauretti - Alfred State
(Senior, DL - Seaford, N.Y.)


Lauretti had a monster defensive effort in his final home game of his career. He recorded 12 total tackles - nine solo - in the Pioneers' first victory of the season. He also recorded two sacks, five tackles for a loss of 22 yards, and forced a fumble.

Rookie of the Week

Ronnie Clark - Alfred State
(Freshman, RB – Philadelphia, N.Y.)


Clark rushed over 100-yards for the first time in his career. Playing quarterback in the wildcat formation for most of the game, Clark rushed 34 times for 209 yards and two scores. He scored on touchdown runs of 20 and 22 yards to help the Pioneers to their first win of the season.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Bladimir Vargas - Alfred State
(Senior, WR– Washington Heights, N.Y.)


Vargas was part of two huge plays for the Pioneers' special teams. He forced a fumble on a punt return that immediately led to a Pioneer touchdown, and then later blocked an Anna Maria punt attempt, to help lead Alfred State to a thrilling 30-28 victory.
