MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 5th.  Mount Ida teammates Michael Pina (Brockton, Mass.) and DeSean Hart (Mays Landing, N.J.) were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Castleton University’s Jared Brockway (Framingham, Mass.) was named Rookie of the Week, while Dean College’s Marquez Walls (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Michael Pina - Mount Ida College
(Sophomore, QB - Brockton, Mass.)

Pina's best game in a Mustangs uniform came in the 58-41 win over Anna Maria on Saturday. Pina was 19-29 with 305 yards through the air with 3 touchdown passes. He added 8 rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown with his legs and continually led the offensive attack against the AMCATs.

Defensive Player of the Week

DeSean Hart - Mount Ida College
(Junior, DB – Mays Landing, N.J.)

Hart recorded 10 total tackles, 8 solo, along with a pass breakup in the Mustangs 58-41 shoot-out win over Anna Maria. He also had two touchdowns – his first, on a 90 yard fumble recovery, and his second, on a 100 yard interception from the Mount Ida end zone.

Rookie of the Week

Jared Brockway – Castleton University
(Freshman, WR – Framingham, Mass.)

Brockway was one of the frequent targets Saturday against Gallaudet, catching a season-high six passes for 41 yards. Brockway's first two catches led to the first Castleton touchdown of the day, as well as his participation in a trick play, as Brockway caught a lateral from Mitchell Caron and found Jermaine Coggins wide open for a 33-yard completion into the red zone. His next three receptions led to the second Spartan touchdown of the game as the first half closed. In total, three of Brockway's catches resulted in Castleton first downs.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Marquez Walls - Dean College
(Sophomore, DB – St. Petersburg, Fla.)

Walls was a star on Saturday as the Bulldogs nearly pulled off the upset of the season in their narrow 17-14 loss to Maritime. He racked up 175 all-purpose yards, highlighted by a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown. He returned his lone kickoff for 27 yards, averaged 32.7 yards on three punt returns and had three interceptions which he returned for a total of 50 yards.
