ECFC Announces 2016 All-Conference Teams

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference announced its 2016 all-conference teams following a vote of the conference coaches. A total of 83 student-athletes received recognition after the completion of the regular season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Husson's John Smith

Husson running back John Smith earned ECFC Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second straight year. The junior led the entire conference in rushes (277), yards (1,715), yards per game (171.5), and touchdowns (17) without a turnover. The running back scored at least one touchdown and surpassed the 100 yard mark in all but two contests, and surpassed the 200 yard mark twice. 

Husson's Bryant Wade

Husson defensive lineman Luke Washburn earned ECFC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Washburn anchored a defensive unit that allowed the least points per game (15.4), total yards per game (162.2) and rushing yards per game (28.7). The junior also led the league in sacks (12) and sack yards (77) while being tied for first in tackle for loss yards (95).

 

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

 

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE YEAR

Norwich's Wesley Medeiros

Norwich senior kicker/punter Wesley Medeiros was named the ECFC Special Teams Player of the Year. Medeiros was ranked second in the league in field goals (7) and third in points (42). In addition to his scoring role, Medeiros also handled punting duties for the Cadets, ranking second in punts inside the 20 yard line (16) and fair catches (22) while averaging 36 yards per punt.                              

Husson's Nick Lewis

Husson senior Nick Lewis was named the ECFC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Lewis anchored an Eagle offensive line that earned a league best 470.8 yards per game, 40.0 points per game, and 57 total touchdowns on the season. He also led an offensive line that was impressive in quarterback protection; surrendering only nine total sacks to their opponents and not allowing a single sack in four contests.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Norwich's Patrick Brown

Norwich first year running back Patrick Brown was named the ECFC Rookie of the Year. Brown ranked second in the conference in yards per rush (5.8) and touchdowns (7). He also finished third in the league in rushing attempts (138) and yards per game (80.3), reaching 100 yards or more in four games this season.                                       

Husson's Gabby Price

Husson head coach Gabby Price was honored as the ECFC Coach of the Year after leading Husson to a 9-1 record and an NCAA playoff berth. Husson finished 9th in the east in the final NCAA rankings, marking the first time in history that the team has been ranked by the NCAA.

 

ASSISTANT COACH OF THE YEAR 

   
 

Husson assistant coach Nat Clark was named the ECFC Assistant Coach of the Year after helping lead Husson to a 9-1 record. Clark serves as the offensive line coach and special teams coordinator for the Eagles. He coached the Offensive Lineman of the Year, Nick Lewis, in addition to an offensive line unit that allowed the team to score a league best 57 touchdowns and 40 points per game.


   


ECFC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Additional players honored are due to ties in the voting.
