ECFC Announces 2015 All-Conference Teams

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference announced its 2015 all-conference teams following a vote of the conference coaches. A total of 79 student-athletes received recognition after the completion of the regular season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Husson's John Smith

Husson running back John Smith earned Offensive Player of the Year honors. The sophomore led the entire conference in rushes (296), yards (1,733), yards per rush (5.9), and touchdowns (20). The running back averaged better than 170 yards per contest, surpassing the 100 yard mark in all but two contests, and surpassing the 200 yard mark twice.

Husson's Bryant Wade

Husson senior linebacker Bryant Wade earned ECFC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Wade anchored an Eagle defensive unit that allowed the fewest points (17.6), yards (226.1), and rushing yards (60.4) per game. Wade led the conference with three fumble recoveries on the season while collecting 69 tackles.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

 

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE YEAR

Norwich's Wesley Medeiros

Norwich junior kicker/punter Wesley Medeiros was named the ECFC Special Teams Player of the Year. Medeiros led the conference with a dozen field goals, ranked third among kickers with 59 points and fifth with 23 successful point-after tries. In addition to his scoring role, Medeiros also handled punting duties for the Cadets ranking second in punts inside the 20 yard line (12) and fair catches (15) while averaging 33.8 yards per punt.

Castleton's Eric Decker

Castleton sophomore Eric Decker was named the ECFC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Decker anchored a Spartan offensive line that pushed its way to 363.8 yards and 26.9 points per contest while allowing the third fewest sacks league wide.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Castleton's Moe Harris

Castleton first year running back Moe Harris was named the ECFC Rookie of the Year. Harris ranked second in the conference in attempts (211), yards (1,065) and touchdowns (14), finishing the season with nine straight games over 100 all-purpose yards. The freshman back ran for over 100 yards in six games and scored at least one touchdown in eight out of ten games. Harris also led the league in kickoff returns, averaging 27.7 yards per return.

Becker's Mike Lichten

Becker head coach Mike Lichten was honored as the ECFC Coach of the Year award after leading Becker. Lichten orchestrated an impressive six-win turnaround from a season ago, as the Hawks finished 7-3, 5-2 with non-conference wins over MIT and Nichols.

 

ECFC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Additional players honored are due to ties in the voting.
