ECFC Weekly Honors for November 17, 2014

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

George Busharis, Castleton
(Jr., QB - Mansfield, Mass.)
Busharis put forth a career performance in leading Castleton to a 48-28 victory over Norwich to capture the Maple Sap Bucket Trophy. The junior threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 31 yards and a pair of scores for a career-high six total touchdowns. Busharis had a had in all six offensive touchdowns scored by the Spartans and his final one, a one-yard rushing plunge gave Castleton a 46-14 lead over the Cadets midway through the third quarter.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Davin Collins, Becker
(So, DB - Far Rockaway, N.Y.)
Sophomore defensive back Davin Collins played a key role in the Hawks 17-14 overtime win over Anna Maria on Saturday afternoon. Collins finished the game with seven tackles, a fumble recovery, an interception and three pass break ups. Collins broke up the final pass attempt in overtime to preserve the victory for Becker.


 

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Diogo Dietrich, Maritime (N.Y.)
(Jr, K - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
Junior placekicker Diogo Dietrich finished the season tied for third in the ECFC in scoring with 55 points on the year, with an average of 6.1 points per game on 16 extra points and 13 field goals. The 55 points this season was the eighth highest mark in a single season, it also gives Dietrich 126 career points to place him 3rd on the All-Time scoring list at Maritime. 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Matthew Murphy, Maritime (N.Y.)
(Fr, K - Seaford, N.Y.)
In his third busiest outing of the season, rookie Matthew Murphy had six touchbacks for just over 53 yards per kickoff and also had one touchback. For the season he had 43 kickoffs for 2,573 yards for an average of 59.84 yards per kickoff on the season.
