ECFC Weekly Honors for November 1, 2010

Co-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Paul Shaughnessy, Mount Ida College
(Sr., RB - Malden, Massachusetts)
Mount Ida College senior running back Paul Shaughnessy ran for 261 yards and three touchdowns also adding one catch for 13 yards and a touchdown en route to a 25-23 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) victory over hosting Husson University Saturday afternoon.

Shane Brozowski, Castleton
(So., QB - Rensselaer, N.Y.)
Brozowski threw for 409 yards and three touchdowns, completing 28-of-36 attempts in Saturday's 53-6 win over Becker. The sophomore quarterback played just over two quarters of football, rolling up 379 yards through the first half alone and has now thrown for a touchdown in all but one start this season. Brozowski also rushed for a score, and has at least one rushing touchdown in each of his last three games.

Co-DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Keith Barnes, Maritime College
(So., LB - Westbury, N.Y./Westbury)
Barnes led the Maritime defense that held Norwich without an offensive score on Saturday as the Privateers claimed the 2010 ECFC Championship with a 20-2 home victory over the Cadets. The 6-0, 200-pounder matched the game-high with 11 tackles (eight solo and three assisted), including 2.5 for combined losses of 10 yards. He had one sack for a loss of four yards and an interception on the opening drive of the game that he returned 31 yards. Barnes also recorded a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.

Michael Brockenberry, Mount Ida College
(So., LB - West Haven, CT)
Mount Ida College sophomore linebacker Michael Brockenberry notched 7.5 tackles, 3.0 sacks for a loss of 20 yards, and an interception in a 25-23 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) victory over hosting Husson University.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madison Leary, Maritime College
(Sr., K - Tavares, Fla./Tavares)
Leary averaged 48.3 yards on three kickoffs (145 yards total) in Maritime's 20-2 victory over Norwich on Saturday. The 6-4, 205-pounder kicked and the recovered a surprise onside kick in the third quarter after the Privateers' third touchdown to keep the momentum on Maritime's side. He was also the squad's long snapper.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Brandon Boyle, Castleton
(Fr., WR - Springfield, Vt.)
Boyle was impressive in just his second collegiate start, catching four passes for 87 yards and setting a Castleton record with three touchdowns, all in the first half of the 53-6 win. The freshman receiver caught his second career touchdown on Castleton's opening drive, then ended the first quarter with another touchdown grab, adjusting after the pass was tipped to make a tremendous play. Boyle's final touchdown grab came at the end of the first half as he hauled in a laser from Shane Brozowski in the back of the Spartan end zone.
