ECFC Weekly Honors for October 11, 2010

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Johrone Bunch, Mount Ida College
(Jr., RB - Meriden, Conn.)
Mount Ida College football junior pre-season All-American running back Johrone Bunch (Meriden, CT/F.T. Maloney) rushed for 216 yards with six touchdowns in a 41-6 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) victory over visiting Becker College Saturday. Bunch broke the school record for scores in a game and eclipsed the career touchdowns record passing Mount Ida alumnus Antwan Harris (31 TD's) tallying 34 scores in his three year career as a Mustang so far.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tony Tatum, Gallaudet University
(Sophomore, Cornerback - Gardendale, Ala.)
Tatum came up with two huge interceptions for Gallaudet University on Saturday in a 31-23 loss on the road against defending conference champion Norwich University. Both of Tatum's interceptions took place in the third quarter in came near minutes apart from each other. Tatum first picked off Norwich quarterback Kris Sabourin at Gallaudet 2-yard line as the Cadets were on the verge of blowing open a 31-7 game. On the very next play Gallaudet threw a 98-yard touchdown pass to jump start the Bison comeback. On the ensuing possession for the Cadets, Sabourin threw another errant pass to Tatum. This interception came two minutes after the previous one. Tatum made a return on the second pick and went 39 yards to the end zone as GU pulled to within one score, 31-23, heading into the fourth quarter. Tatum also had three tackles in the loss.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madison Leary, Maritime College
(Sr., K - Tavares, Fla./Tavares)
Leary was 6-for-7 in PAT kicks for the Privateers in their 41-28 victory over Castleton on Saturday. The 6-4, 205-pounder also averaged 49.7 yards per kick on seven kickoffs (348 yards total
).
