ECFC Weekly Honors for September 13, 2010

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Thomas Davis, Maritime College
(Fr., RB - Westbury, N.Y./Westbury)
Davis scored a game-best three touchdowns three different ways and added a two-point conversion run for 20 total points on Friday in the Privateers' 41-28 victory over Western Connecticut on Friday. He led the team with 218 all purpose yards (41 receiving, 44 rushing and 133 kick returning). His first score was on a 44-yard passing play in the second quarter. He then registered Maritime's first ever kick return touchdown when he started the second half by bringing the return back 80 yards for the score. In the fourth quarter, he rushed 29 yards for an insurance touchdown that put the Privateers up by two scores.

Chris Denton, Norwich University
(Sophomore, WR - Plantation Florida)
Sophomore Wide Receiver Chris Denton caught 7 passes for 168 yards, three for touchdowns. The touchdown catches went for 27, 68, and 29 yards. Denton know has five touchdown catches in the first two games of the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mack Charles, Mount Ida College
(Junior, CB - Lynn, Mass.)
Charles had an outstanding day in a 41-16 non-conference victory over host Plymouth State University this past weekend with three solo tackles, a fumble recovery that went for 53 yards, and an interception. Charles has been a key element to the defensive backfield so far this season with some quality veteran experience.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Davis returned the Privateers' first ever kick return touchdown in the program's five-year history. On the opening kickoff of the second half, after Western Connecticut had scored late in the second quarter to tie the game at 14-14, Davis returned the kick 80 yards for a go-ahead touchdown. Davis went on to score a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, finishing his scoring with 20 points on the day.
