Co-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Shane Brozowski,
Castleton
(So., QB - Rensselaer, N.Y.)
Brozowski continued to write the Spartan record book this week,
setting new marks with 69 passing attempts, 40 completions and four
touchdowns in a 50-41 loss at Norwich. Brozowski threw for 405
yards, eclipsing the 400-yard mark for the fifth time this season.
The sophomore quarterback also gained 74 yards on the ground,
(giving all but 5 back on sacks) and two touchdowns. It is the
third-straight week Brozowski has accounted for at least four
touchdowns.
Nick Lynch, Mount Ida
(Jr., WR - Hampton Bays, NY)
Mount Ida College junior wide receiver Nick Lynch hauled in seven
catches for 128 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 69-18
Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) romping over visiting
Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts on
senior day. Lynch had a career day breaking the record for
receptions in a season with 61 catches for the year with one game
remaining.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Pat Lasher, Maritime College
(So., LB - Seaford, N.Y./Seaford)
Lasher led the Maritime defense for the third time this season
when he registered a team-high 11 tackles (eight solo and three
assisted) against Gallaudet on Saturday. The 6-2, 200-pounder
recorded one tackle for a loss of three yards in the second
quarter. Lasher also kept the quarterback on his toes with one QB
hurry.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brendan Carey, Maritime College
(Fr., K - Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus Central)
Carey was a perfect 3-for-3 in extra points in the Privateers'
21-14 victory over Gallaudet Saturday night filling in for senior
Madison Leary. The 6-4, 200-pounder also averaged 43.0 yards on
four kickoffs (172 yards total).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Lumbus Burrell, Maritime College
(Fr., LB - Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A Wise)
Burrell was instrumental in Maritime winning Saturday night at
Gallaudet, causing two turnovers in the last six minutes of the
game. The first was a forced fumble on the first play of the
Bison's possible go-ahead drive that began on the Privateers'
48-yard line late in the fourth quarter. The ensuing Maritime drive
ended in the game-winning touchdown. Gallaudet got the ball back
and was driving upfield, but Burrell picked off a pass with 35
seconds left that sealed the victory for the Privateers.
