OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shane Brozowski, Castleton
(So., QB - Rensselaer, N.Y.)
Brozowski led Castleton to a 31-28 win over Gallaudet, the
Spartans' first ECFC victory this season. Voted the league's top
quarterback in 2009, Brozowski had a record-setting performance
Saturday completing 33-of-46 passes for 413 yards and a touchdown.
He also carried the load on the ground, rushing for a career-high
66 yards (95 gross) and two more scores. The sophomore quarterback
answered each Gallaudet score with a scoring drive of his own,
including an eight-play, 62-yard drive with the score tied at 28-28
that led to Carl Ojala's game-winning field goal with 11 seconds
remaining.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
A.J. Knibbs, Mount Ida College
(SO., DE - Spotwood, New Jersey)
Mount Ida College football sophomore defensive end A.J. Knibbs was
outstanding Saturday helping his team capture a 22-21 ECFC victory
over visiting Norwich with five solo tackles, a big sack, two pass
break ups, and two quarterback hurries. On third and 11 with under
a minute to go in the contest leading by one with the Cadets
marching on the final drive, Knibbs sacked Norwich sophomore
quarterback Kris Sabourin for a loss bringing up fourth down at the
50 yard line. A hail mary pass that was batted down for the end of
the game and the Mustangs first ECFC win of the season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Johnattan Rivera, Becker College
(SO., RB - Dracut, Mass.)
Rivera returned a blocked punt for a touchdown as the Hawks scored
eight special teams points in a 43-32 win over Anna Maria.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Luis Sanchez, Becker College
(FR, WR - Springfield, Mass.)
Luis had a breakout game against Anna Maria, catching five balls
for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
