Countdown to Kickoff

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) is counting down the days until kickoff by highlighting league facts and statistics while also highlighting players to watch from all eight institutions!

A new player or fact will be featured on twitter every day leading up to kickoff on Thursday, August 31 when Alfred State travels to Coast Guard for the first game of the 2017 season. Be sure to follow @d3ecfc on twitter to catch all the highlights.

Below we recap days 41-50.

Despite being limited to only six games in 2016, SUNY Maritime's Tom Wright posted 968 passing yards (161.3 yds/gm) and tossed six touchdowns for the Privateers.

The Dean Bulldogs held opponents to 120.4 yards per game last season.

Gallaudet's Dylan Mento had a breakout sophomore season for the Bison as he led the team in catches (27), receiving touchdowns (4) and receiving yards (287).

John Lauretti was a defensive force for Alfred State in 2016 as he notched 58 tackles, 3 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.

The AMCATS' Joe D'Onofrio did it all for Anna Maria in 2016. He led the ECFC in return yards with 846 and also ranked second in the league in all-purpose yards, averaging nearly 150 yards per game.

Moe Harris was a man of many talents for Castleton in 2016. His 113.9 all-purpose yards per game ranked third in the ECFC.

Mount Ida returns a stout offensive line that features three seniors in Vincent Tucker, Chris Stafford and Ollie Sylvestre. The trio were part of a 2016 OL that surrendered only 16 sacks to their opponents.

Privateers wide receiver Matt Ward led his program in receptions (40), receiving yards (489) and receiving touchdowns (4) during the 2016 season.

1st Team All-Conference Quarterback Cory Brandon is back for his junior campaign with the Husson Eagles. His 2,323 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and 59.2 completion% were all league-highs last season.

In its eight year history the ECFC has seen five different programs claim the conference crown in Husson University (2016 & 2014), Norwich University (2015, 2011, 2009), Gallaudet University (2013), Mount Ida College (2012) and SUNY Maritime (2010).
